Stan Burt

Facility Director - Lowcountry Home of Hope

Stan served on active duty in the US Navy from 1974 -79 and 1982-84 and later retired from the Navy Reserves. Subsequently he had a career working with the South Carolina Department of Corrections from 1985 to 2008.  During this time, he was promoted through the ranks from Correctional Officer at the beginning to Warden in 2001 until 2008, retiring at the end of that year after twenty three years of service. He has a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice/Corrections, graduation in 1991 from the University of South Carolina in Columbia. Earlier on, he obtained a B.S. in Science at Excelsior College through US Navy from University of New York at Albany.  After retirement from the SC Department of Corrections, Stan served on volunteer missions with Water Missions International as Volunteer Manager in Malawi for 6 months in 2009 and went to Haiti for disaster relief in 2008. Other Community Service/Volunteering through his church, he was involved with Palmetto House Homeless Shelter, Habitat for Humanity and the Alston Wilkes Society, and has been active for many years in the Kairos Prison Ministry.
