Gerald Musselman

Honorary Charter Member

Gerald Musselman is a transplant to Summerville from Pennsylvania.  He and his wife, Waltraud, moved to their present home in 1986, after retiring from a career in the United States Air Force.  He served in many community charitable activities both in the states and in a variety of overseas locations.  This included reading to children with the Kiwanis Terrific Kids Program and Special Olympics both here and abroad. After retirement, he served as the Dorchester County Veterans Affairs Officer for 7 years.  Thus, then the original Palmetto House was opened, he quickly volunteered his service through the Outreach Services of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.  Seeing the positive changes that were developed among many residents there, his resolve was strengthened to assist this segment of our population, especially those who have served our country in the military.  He considers being a part of the Home of Hope as an opportunity share opportunity and friendship.  As we know, friends are God’s way of taking care of us.
